Roadside Giants.
An enlarged figure changes the scale of everything around it. A person, doorway or passing car becomes a measuring device, helping us understand the ambition of the object above it. Follow the stories of the Jamestown buffalo, the Peachoid and the dinosaur parks for documented examples of monumental roadside imagery. In the archive, compare the figures’ outlines with their settings: some dominate an open landscape, while others stand close to the everyday business of the road.
